Since Valve is running the show now, and with a new engine, possibility?

Here's my idea of what a 3 team map should look like, probably 3v3v3 or 4v4v4.

Valve: DotA 2 As A Spectator Sport

Thesteamcast.com held a podcast interview with Valve managing director Gabe Newell and Project Manager Erik Johnson where they touched on some aspects of DotA 2 without going into too much detail. What we did take away from the interview is the fact that Valve will be putting a lot of effort into how players spectate DotA 2 games. An excerpt from the interview is below:

Newell: The piece of the puzzle that I’m always curious about is that nobody’s done a good job of making watching that (multiplayer competitive gaming) entertaining enough. Valve's Next Game is Dota 2

Saturday, March 26, 2011

If you've never played DotA, also known as Defense of the Ancients, trying to figure out how it all works can be confusing. This is especially true if you're hopping in with people who've been playing for years and have a fondness for lashing out at those less knowledgeable. It's a game type that grew out of Blizzard's Warcraft III community and has enjoyed widespread popularity since, spurring other developers to produce their own versions like Riot Games' League of Legends.
